Welcome to Seiano -Italy

Since Roman times, Seiano has been chosen as a destination for stay for its sweet climate, for the healthy air, for the green hills and the intense blue of the sea.

For the name Sejan, it is most likely a predial toponym derived from the Latin name Sejus or Sejanus of a Seja gens was officially named for the first time in March 1306. The town took on importance in the Angevin era and, from the sixteenth century onwards, had considerable development, which reached its peak in the eighteenth century. Strongly centered around the parish church, the village has expanded towards Vico and Montechiaro (neighboring hamlet).

Its main resource was the merchant navy, particularly thriving in the mid-19th century, at the time of the sailing navy: during this period Sejana had a merchant fleet of 21 ships. The Sanctuary of the Virgin of Graces called Santa Maria Vecchia (16th century) holds many former vows.

In addition to this sanctuary there is also a parish church dedicated to St. Mark the Evangelist and dating back to the 18th century.
